Islington Town Hall Wedding – L+P

Time to share this gorgeous Islington Town Hall London wedding on the blog. Laurie and Pete’s urban wedding in London features a unique combo of elegant and untraditional. From a beautiful Pronovias lace wedding gown to a custom denim jacket. From the art-deco details of the Islington Town Hall to the gorgeous tropical theme and industrial vibe at the West Reservoir Centre. If you love unconventional eclectic weddings, you’re in for a treat!

The couple

Laurie is French and Pete is Australian, but they met while living and working in London. If this is not destiny, I don’t know what it is. In a way, their wedding was a celebration of the city that brought them together (red bus included!).

Bridal and Groom Prep

With both sets of friends flying from different parts of the world, bridal and groom prep were bound to be loads of fun. I headed to the cutest little apartment in London to photograph the bride getting ready with her friends and family. At the same time, my amazing second-shooter Kat went to take photos of the guys getting ready.

The atmosphere was overall amazing and excitement was running high. It was beautiful to see everyone enjoying themselves, going from waves of laughter to tears literally in seconds.

The ceremony at Islington Town Hall

Islington Town Hall is, hands down, one of my absolute favourite venues for a civil ceremony. It has so much character and so many beautiful photo opportunities.

We loved the mix of Art deco and traditional feel at the Islington Townhall and we chose our venue to be an industrial heritage building by the water. A unique mix and all in central London.

Wedding Breakfast at the West Reservoir Centre with a tropical theme

The beautiful West Reservoir Centre in Hackney looked absolutely incredible. The couple had chosen an eccentric tropical theme to go with the industrial vibe of the venue. The centrepieces featured giant flamingos, golden pineapples and tropical leaves. What else do we need?!

The Speeches & the party

Like many of my couples, Pete and Laurie truly did it their way. The structure of their wedding was truly personal and just how they wanted it. Instead of the traditional three speeches by the father of the bride, groom and best man, they had some of their family members and closest friends giving speeches. As a result, that were lots of tears and laughter and, of course, many surprises too.
